Slowing Down

The system of capitalism is asking us to speed up, to work harder and defeat more barriers. The entire culture is asking more of us. How much more can we give if we are really about “it”? In this system of indoctrination and programming, how well can we prove to the world that we are what we’ve been made to believe we’re supposed to be? In this mining of our spirit, as John Trudell once put it, we’ve forgotten that we are an extension of the natural world.

The Earth is everything but fast, it is almost a screeching halt that seems unmovable, a pace ancient to our minds. The work of decolonization, not only asks, but requires us to slow down.  Extraction and exploitation works in such a way that it depletes so quickly that it doesn’t allow for the steady process of growth to reclaim its time. If we are to defeat white supremacy-capitalism and save ourselves and the planet, we must remember what it’s like to mirror the cycles of the natural world. Otherwise, we are continuously feeding the machine of destruction.

Envision a day when everyone decided to just stop and tend to the emotional and spiritual wounds inflicted upon us by the violence of settler colonialism – the entire system that we’re actively exercising our energies to fight against – would cripple. But, this is not to be confused with neutrality. It is in cyclical, steady and deep introspection where respect and understanding for the seasons and longevity is born. For example, the winter calls for rest, reflection, intimate connection with self and loved ones.  It is a time to honor our need for hibernation, and dream up the visions for the birth of new life come Spring.  This is where we begin the process of creation and build the sturdy foundations towards legacy. This is when we tune back in to our genius, our power.

When we slow down we reject centuries of mental colonial programming, and face the truth of who we really are and in which ways we’ve been indoctrinated to place our self-worth and value on our external output. We’re also actively engaging in a rebellion against this system that heavily depends on our physical and energetic productivity. In fact, the more we build our personal power within and the less we slave it away for these institutions (including the non-profit industrial complex), the closer we get to personal and collective liberation.

This call to internal recalibration is hard work, because it depends on placing our trust on the momentum of the cosmos, day in and day out. It’s asking us to depend on nothing but time and love. Love for our self- actualization, liberation and respect for our own process of re-conditioning our minds to the pace of the natural world. Calling on a connection with the medicine of the turtle, revered as a symbolism of wisdom, patience and Mother Earth, could help us hone in on this pace and vision.

This work of a lifetime, leads us to further align with freedom. It is the pursuit of wholeness and truth. It is the work of enriching the roots and soil, upon which, once strengthened, we build the material world.

Introduction – Lite Launch

Welcome welcome,

This is atabey(r)Evolution.

I would like to begin by explaining why I’ve have decided on a “lite launch”, of what will unfold into a much greater vision. Atabey(r)Evolution is my newborn baby, and much like the new birth process, I want this expression to reflect and build on the naked, raw and messy aspects of mothering growth. It is my intention to nurture this new born baby to the best of my abilities, while allowing it to teach ME about myself along the way. For quite a while, I was obsessing over the “right” aesthetic to release this content, clinging on to an illusion of what my work should look like for it to be “valid”, rather than simply BEing the expression that is fluid and authentic to my soft and malleable Piscean moon heart. Pero, don’t get it twisted! It’s a “lite launch” for a reason, cause I’m also a Aries Rising/Leo sun, so the extraness and transformative flares are coming soon.

And so, newborn lesson number one: a messy unfoldment serves as a valid truth.

Secondly, I would like to introduce Atabey. Atabey is the Mother Earth Goddess of the Taino peoples, indigenous to Quisqueya, Ayiti, Boriken, Cuba and Xamaica, currently recognized for their colonized names as: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. Atabey is the divine spirit of fertility, our wombs, and the waters. She is the great mother of the natural world. She is to whom we owe our sustenance and nourishment. And she is calling us back home.

This call home is one of the many inspirations for this work. I seek help serve in the liberation of Mother Earth, which calls for the death of capitalism and exploitative economies, from which, by default, lies the liberation of the people. By exercising my true expression, through Atabey(r)Evolution, I seek to move us (myself included), through the journey back home, to the circle, to the self; which in essence is the journey towards love and freedom. A mental, emotional, spiritual and physical freedom that is imprisoned in – the terrorist white supremacist regime and settler colonialist – prison industrial complex.

On this journey, my intent is to explore all the ways to decolonization, and (r)Evolutionize our relationship to our higher selves, our loved ones, our medicine and the land. I hope to move away from the shadow of terror and trauma that have and continue to haunt and persecute our peoples for 500+ years, and pierce through to the next phase of our collective evolution, which is the actualization of our infinite and brilliant potential. Through this channel I intend on helping build power from within, by applying the ancestral wisdom that is lying deep within each one of us, seeking to continuously heal and elevate us; in order to create the self, community and Earth sustaining futures of our dreams.

This journey may take on many forms and as I mentioned above, is reflective of the natural and cyclical unfoldment of growth. Through storytelling and critical thought of the cosmos, metaphysics, love, tantra, magic, health, folklore, music, alchemy, jokes, family, poetry, emotional outbursts, and everything throughout and within, we will strengthen and deepen our roots into Atabey and build on the warming flames of the sacred fire of hope – in this era of cold darkness.
